Bioscience Hub to Replace Planned Coal Power Plant in BaguangA large bioscience hub is being planned for construction in the Baguang area in the northeastern section of the Dapeng Peninsula. The plan to build the hub is based on a drafted plan that was created during the meeting of the Shenzhen planning and land resources commission. The drafted plan is also open for public comments.

Baguang area has 930 hectares that is enclosed by the Yanba Expressway, the Paiya Mountain and several coastlines. The drafted plan states that the hub is dedicated to the development of bioscience in the city and will provide around 80,000 new jobs and 35,000 of these jobs are for workers living in the area and the remaining number are for those living in Kuichong and near Dapeng area. Development plans also includes the construction of three public transportation terminals, bike paths and greenways, private vehicles will not be allowed to enter the area.

Before the submission of the plans for the bioscience hub a coal fired powered plant was planned for the area but has suspended by the commission after encountering protests from residents. The area will now be devoted for the development on the bioscience industry and will include facilities for coastal tourism, education, cultural innovation, scientific research and exhibitions. The area will also include business clusters and public service facilities near the bay area that connects with all public transportation.
