Campaign Launched to Attract More People to Visit Museums
A joint campaign was launched by five Chinese museums asking internet users to come up with humorous captions or amusing descriptions in an effort to attract and encourage younger people in visiting museums. The campaign named Show the Cuteness of Museums will run for one month allowing internet users to submit funny captions on Sina Weibo, the most popular micro blogging website in the country.
The National Museum of China and the Capital Museum along with several provincial museums in Shanxi, Hubei and Hunan have joined in organizing the campaign. The campaign is part of several events to help celebrate International Museum Day last Friday, and a jury will be created to choose the best captions from submitted entries and to award the contributors. This year’s campaign shows the theme of International Museum Day that aims to make museums more innovative, sincere and attractive to the younger generation.
