Shenzhen Leads in Having the Most Number of New Energy Vehicles in the World
In 2009 Shenzhen starting to subsidize the use of new energy vehicles as officials set aside 3.5 billion yuan that will support the new energy vehicle industry and another 2.1 billion yuan to help in promoting the use of new energy vehicles as the city created around 81 electric vehicle charging stations and 3,000 charging stands in different locations in the city. by 2015 the commission expects that there will be more than 35,000 new energy vehicles running in the city including 2,500 taxis, 5,000 buses and more than 16,000 private vehicles.
As part of the latest efforts in reducing emission around 100 cement mixers that are powered by LNG or liquefied natural gas were used in a mixing station in Nanshan. This was the first time the liquefied natural gas was used on a large scale by any industry. Based on the air quality improvement plan the city will be using liquefied natural gas in more than 25,000 heavy vehicles this year.
