Baoding to Develop Land to Absorb Beijing Institutes and Companies
Baoding is setting aside 115,000 hectares of development sites that will be absorbing branches of Beijing based institutes and companies in their hopes to ease the congestion in the already crowded capital.
Hebei Province is also developing around 34 new districts to host people coming in from Beijing. Hebei provincial government and Party committee was already issued planning directives that stated that Baoding and Langfang a city found between Tianjin and Beijing to become satellite cities by developing the region which is also known as Jing-Jin-Ji the Chinese shorthand of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Hospitals in Beijing have already transferred some of their functions to Baoding
Baoding is along the Beijing Shijiazhuang High Speed Railway which opened in 2012 a mere 40 minutes away from Beijing. Baoding is currently developing three districts around the high speed rail stations that are found along the line into technology hubs that can play host of prestigious universities or high tech firms.
With 2.2 million hectares of land and home to ten million people, Baoding was the capital of Hebei in 1949 but lost the title to Tianjin in 1958 which in turn lost the title to Shijiazhuang.
