Expressway to Add More On Ramps and Exit as Part of RenovationThe city transportation commission plans to add more exits and on ramps on a section of the Meiguan Expressway which was recently made toll free. The particular section will be transformed into an urban road with a speed limit of below 80 kilometers an hour. The commission already had an existing plan for the renovation and has passed it to the city government for approval.

Te five existing on ramps and exits at the expressway is providing access to and from Meiban Boulevard, Bulong Road, Wuhe Boulevard, Mikang Road, Guangguang Road and Jihe Expressway. Once renovations are done Xuegang Road, Guanlan Boulevard and Jihua Road will be interconnected with the expressway and is renamed as Meiguan Boulevard. The north to south Meiguan Expressway will run through the central area of Shenzhen, although most of the city residents especially those living in the Bantian and Longhua area needs to make a detour just to gain access to the expressway since surrounded by fences.

The road renovations will now allow more urban areas to be connected with the road as it will bring more vehicles to the road along with the possibility of the local government to add public transportation along the route.

During the first toll free day the expressway seen around 68,000 vehicles passing through, police have estimated that the vehicle flow will increase by ten percent a month until June as traffic is expected to stabilize by then at around 85,000 vehicles a day.
