Technical Support for Windows XP Users Ends Today
Microsoft recently announced that it will be ending its technical support of the Windows XP operating system after thirteen years in service thus leaving million of computers vulnerable to security threats or worse. The plan to discontinue support was announced last year as Microsoft churns out newer platforms such as Windows 8 and the Windows 8.1 for mobile.
Although computers using Windows XP will still work it leaves you open to security risks and viruses. Microsoft said that there are more software and hardware manufacturers that ca optimizing their equipment using the most recent version of Windows so users will surely encounter several apps and devices that will not be compatible with the Windows XP anymore. Along with the support for Windows XP, Microsoft also ended the support for its Office 2003 yesterday as many users have already upgraded to the latest version of the Office suite.
Furthermore Microsoft will not offer updates for free, this means that any security setting in place on the computers will remain the same forever as long as Windows XP is installed. Microsoft is suggesting that users should upgrade to newer versions of their operating system such as Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.
