Daimler together with BYD Introduces Jointly Developed New Energy Vehicle
BYD together with Daimler AG will be introducing its first jointly developed electric vehicle at the Auto China expo this Sunday. The jointly developed vehicle the Denza is also eligible for government subsidies as it goes on sale this September. Vehicles will be prices from 369,000 yuan to 399,000 yuan depending of the equipment installed along with accessories.
The jointly developed Denza is a purely distinctive Chinese brand coming from two companies and is part of the German auto maker’s plan in expanding their market in the largest car market in the world and at the same time boost their sales. Daimler’s head of research and development said that the vehicle is the first ever completed vehicle that Daimler has develop together with Shenzhen based BYD outside of Germany.
The 5 seater vehicle is produced by BYD Daimler New Technology CO. Lts. And will have a range of 300 kilometers with an average daily driving distance of around 50 to 80 kilometers a day. The vehicle should be charged at least twice a week. Daimler also announced that the vehicle is eligible for government subsidy of at least 120,000 yuan which can be deducted from the total price of the vehicle when purchased. Aslo the city government is planning to grant more subsidies for purchase taxes, charging poles and parking fees but details are yet to be discussed.
The vehicle will be manufactures in a plant in Pinshan using German automated manufacturing equipment.
