UCWeb to Team Up with Alibaba to Launch Mobile Browser
Leading Chinese browser maker and application distributor UCWeb Inc. has teamed up with Alibaba Group Holdings in launching a new mobile search engine service called Shenma. The mobile search engine has been under development for the last four years under a tech team from Alibaba search department including a team of experts working for Baidu and Google Inc as well.
UCWeb CEO Yu Yongfu stated in a press conference which celebrated the company’s 10th anniversary that the mobile search engine Shenma have receive a lot of support from Jack Ma the founder and chairman of the e-commerce giant Alibaba. Yu said that the company will further strengthen its cooperation with Alibaba in terms of product development and using its resources.
The design of the mobile search engine is mobile center rather than personal computer based, adding that the success of the mobile search engine service will definitely meet the demand of mobile internet users. Furthermore the company aims to build Shenma into a largest Chinese language mobile search engine.
UCWeb was founded in 2004 and has grown into one of the largest third party mobile browser in China with more than 500 million users around the world.
