Group Creates Company to Help in Operating Metro Line 6 Project
HKMTR, the Shenzhen Metro and China Construction Group Corp. are setting up a company that will invest and operate the Metro Line 6 in Shenzhen of which construction is slated to start later this year. The metro project will be running about 38 kilometers with 20 stops and is said to be constructed at a cost of 14.9 billion yuan.
Several parts of the line will be placed on elevated bridges as a cost saving measure. The construction of these elevated bridges will run a third to half of the cost of doing underground projects. And based on the first plan these elevated sections will be 3.43 kilometers long and the underground sections will run at 6.44 kilometers. The planned Metro line 6 will link Songgang in Bao’an and the Shenzhen North Railway Station in Longhua New Area. The line will also run in a less crowded area just outside of the CBD area.
The head for the rail construction office Li Fumin sad that work on the Line 6 extension which is 11.2 kilometers long will be extended from Shenzhen North Railway Station up to the Science Museum Station in Futian is also slated to start construction this year as well.
The Line 6 is just one of the 80 projects of the National Development and Reform Commission which listed to further encourage private companies in participating through joint venture as wholly owned entities or franchises. A third of the 80 projects will involve constructing traffic infrastructures ranging from subways to railways.
