Shenzhen to Use Higher Quality Gasoline by July
A higher quality gasoline that is similar to Euro V standard gasoline that is used in Europe will be used in the city starting in July. According to one of the major oil supply giants Sinopec Shenzhen the No. 90 and 93 gasoline which has that national IV standard sold in the city will be replaced by No. 92 and 95 gasoline. Retail prices for the new gasoline will have an increase of 0.1 yuan per liter while the No. 98 gasoline will still be in use.
Then by July, the 14 Guangdong cities and Guangzhou will be adopting the new fuel standard. The gasoline practice will then be expanded in other provinces by October. By 2015 the city will also start using higher quality diesel fuel as well. the National V Standard will be tightening the emission limit and will add a pollution control program named Particle Number to its existing National VI Emission Standard. Furthermore nitrogen oxide emission coming from a light passenger vehicle will be reduced from 28 percent to 25 percent with particles by 82 percent.
By the end of 2017, the National V standard for gasoline and diesel fuels will be implemented nationwide and since February of 2013 the National V Standard has been implemented in Beijing and Shanghai in effort to reduce pollution in these cities.
