Air Pollution Measures Calls for Elimination of High Polluting Vehicles
The Central Government have announced that the country will be eliminating around 6 million of its high polluting vehicles before the year ends as part of the country’s plan to control the level of air pollution. The ruling applies to all vehicles that will not meet emission standards. Of all the vehicles that will be eliminated around 20 percent are coming from the municipalities of Tianjin and Beijing and in Hebei Province as well.
And based on an action plan even more vehicles will be scrapped which stated that 5 more million vehicles in developed regions, the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and in the Beijing-Hebei-Tianjin Region are also due to be scrapped. By strengthen the controls on vehicle emissions is one of the major topic to be discussed in the country’s energy savings, low carbon development and emission reduction for the next two years. Recent pollution reports from environmental authorities show that 31 percent of the air pollution are coming from vehicles.
By eliminating high polluting vehicles environmental experts say that the country should start upgrading the quality of fuel being used since ot will also help in the mitigating of air pollution and smog. To help realize this the Guangdong Provincial Government was also made plans to upgrade the fuel quality in the province to meet National V standards a level which is almost at level with European standards.
