More Residents Starting to Use Carpooling Apps
Based on a report carpooling applications are fast gaining popularity among local residents. After doing a simple registration, users can then share their routes using the app and look for any available car owners that are willing to do carpool and since the gas bill will be shared among the riders it comes out cheaper that riding a taxi.
During the three day Dragon Boat Festival a lot of travelers were able to save money as they used the app in looking for carpoolers that were heading to the airport. Most carpoolers responded within 20 minutes after posting the routes. Most of the drivers accepted the prices for the ride and some did not allow smoking in their vehicles. Carpooling should be encouraged among residents since it can help reduce costs, reduce energy consumption and relieve traffic pressure.
But still some residents are against carpooling since they say that these apps disturb market order and give illegal taxis opportunities to make money, while other support carpooling during rush hours only. Even with the increase in its popularity, these carpooling apps still need a clear profit making plans and susceptible to disputes during traffic accidents.
