Huawei Gets Contract to Supply Russian Company with Telecommunications Equipment
Megafon , Russia’s second biggest mobile phone operator has extended its cooperation with their key supplier Huawei as the two companies have signed a new seven year supply contract. The new deal is said to be at billions of rubles for the supply of equipment for the modernization and construction of the company’s 2G, 3g and LTE networks along with software and maintenance.
The Russian phone company chose Huawei the largest maker of network products to speed up the upgrade of their mobile networks in several Russian territories. Russian companies have already boosted its ties with China, after the European Union and the United States imposed sanctions on the country. A spokes person for the company said that Huawei is one of the leaders in the manufacturing of 4G equipment and is one of the leading suppliers as it signed numerous contracts with other operators. Plus the Russian market is competitive based on equipment prices compared to the market in the United States wherein the supply of Chinese equipment is limited.
Megafon is also continuing talks with several other network providers in other regions, and there are seven other companies that are ready to supply the company with equipment. Previously the carriers used equipment from Huawei and from Finland’s Nokia in creating its 2G and 3G networks.
