Monitoring Tightened on Roads Near Schools to Ensure Student Safety
To ensure the safety of students the city traffic police will further tighten its monitoring on five roads that are found near four schools including the Shenzhen Primary School. The roads will include Renmin North Road which is found between Saibu Road and Lixin Road, then monitoring will continue Lixin Road, Xinyuan Road, Baijinli Road and Saibu Road.
Drivers that are caught parking illegally on these roads from 7 am to 7pm during workdays are fined 500 yuan and if the parking will cause further congestion and traffic accidents the fine will be increased to 1,000 yuan. Also Luohu police will upgrade and improve traffic guidance signs, road fences and directives plus will be installing more monitoring cameras near schools to closely monitor the areas for the safety of the teachers and students.
These measures were implemented after several students from the Shenzhen Primary School complained to Xu Qin the city’s mayor that the traffic near their school was getting worse. Renmin Road North which is located in front of the school is a 350 meter long section between Lixin Road and Saibu Road is usually crowded with more than 80 stores, metal shops, wet markets and restaurants. Also some cars are found to be parking illegally on the roads which can easily cause accidents and some peddlers have already occupied pedestrian streets to do businesses which worsened the situation.
