UK to Simplify Visa Restrictions to Attract More Visitors
To further attract Chinese tourists and business people into the United Kingdom, Britain is planning to simplify and loosen its visa applications. The decision to simplify restrictions came after Premier Li Keqiang was scheduled to visit Britain. Insiders said that the premier’s visit to the United Kingdom will include discussions about the visa policy. Then starting this autumn, Chinese visitors will be able to enter or travel to Britain using Irish visitor visa and without the need for a separate UK visa.
Along with the easing of the visa policy a pilot program was introduced that allows selected travel agents to use one application in processing the UK and Schengen visa applications will now be extended to Chinese visitors who are planning to travel to the United Kingdom. British government also announced that the extension gained positive feedback from tour operators. Schengen Area are European countries that removed controls in between common borders in which the UK and Ireland has opted out.
Talks are also being held with other European partners on streamlining the visa process with Schengen arrangements in making trips to the UK easier for Chinese visitors since this type of visa held more appeal to Chinese visitors since they are able to travel to 26 countries using just one visa.
By introducing a simplified visa processing means that the UK will be more attractive to more foreign visitors and businesses. London could not afford to be left behind its main rivals especially in the financial and business sectors, that is why their visa regime needs to be more adoptable to the fast changing global economic landscape.
