City to Officially Start Collection of Parking Fees in July
By July 8, the city will officially start its collection of roadside parking fees and giving its residents a grace period of one week to familiarize themselves with the new parking rules and payment schemes. In July 1st the rules on roadside parking will take effect and drivers can load up their accounts by checking out the Shenzhen Road Traffic Management Center’s official website or using its Yitingche App.
From June 26 to 30 the traffic management center will shut down it system to test out the payment and registration system as the center have already planned to allow drivers to load up their accounts using the management centers application software. Last month the center’s app went through several trials and saw a total of 28,000 drivers to register for the roadside parking. The city has already created around 1,673 roadside parking spots in the four major areas namely Tianbei in Luohu District, Nanshan District’s CBD area, Zhuzilin in Futian District and southern Futian.
The parking fee collection program is initiated to help in reducing traffic congestion and also in the hopes of improving it. Based on the last survey there are already 3 million registered vehicles on the city roads but only 80,000 available parking spots across the city.
