First Batch of Foreign Students Graduate from Shenzhen University
Since the start of classes in 2010 150 students from 36 countries came and studied at the Shenzhen University either taking up Chinese language or various business programs. Now 13 foreign students have graduated with bachelor degrees in the university’s first international class in the College of International Exchange.
Top student award goes to a South African Student who gave a speech in fluent Chinese. These students hopes to use their knowledge and skills in trying to learn more about the Chinese culture and at the same time promote a cross cultural exchange program. These students act as witnesses to the widespread development in china to share with friends and families in their home countries. The university is now introducing more programs that will promote ties with their home countries and these students can do more and contribute to further communications between China and their home country.
Another student said that their family have been doing business in Shenzhen and Guangzhou which prompted him to study Chinese and business in the university, not only he did he learn about the Chinese language and culture but of other cultures as well since he was living in an international dormitory.
Wang Qingguo the dean for the College of International Exchange stated that an increasing number of foreign students are taking up undergraduate programs since the college opened in 2010. Currently the college is offering undergraduate programs that are taught in English by professors and lecturers from different parts of the world. Post graduate and doctorate programs are now being scheduled for the future. Before foreign students only studied the Chinese language at Shenzhen University but now they are grabbing the opportunity to study for degrees.
