Drivers Complain on Higher Costs of Using Cleaner Gasoline
Several car owners are complaining that the new gasoline which is more environmentally friendly and cleaner is driving the costs up as they notices an increase in fuel consumption. Stations in the city started selling the National V Standard last July 1 in accordance to the provincial order to use and sell cleaner fuel.
Price for a No. 92 and 95 gasoline is at 8 yuan and 8.67 yuan per liter, which is roughly an increase of .15 yuan per liter compared to the fuel formulas prices which was used before. A survey that was conducted by the city traffic police showed that the new variety of gasoline did not satisfy the needs of drivers as they notices the increase in driving costs along with lower efficiency due to the use of the new fuel. One driver said before a full tank of gas lasts around two weeks, now using the new gasoline it only lasts him around half a week. Plus drivers also complained that using the No. 92 gasoline seemed to affect their vehicles power
Experts say that using cleaner fuel was promoted and that the new fuel formulas will lead to increase in consumption due to a lower burning efficiency and thus more fuel is need to generate the same amount of energy that the old gasoline provides. But using cleaner gasoline greatly reduce emission and cuts sulfur dioxide discharges down to 1,120 tons every year.
