Stricter Traffic Rules Resulted to the Number of Violations Going Down
After the police launched a citywide action that implemented stricter traffic rules, the number of traffic violations that were caught by monitoring cameras and a license recognition system dropped 19 percent in the past three months compared to the same period last year.
Among the violations made are from truck drivers that used on Fulong and Meiguan roads which accounted for 27 percent or 28,072 recorded violations this year. Traffic police also caught 106,402 drivers running red lights and 87 percent of the drivers have vehicles with Shenzhen plates. The license recognition system was able to capture 15,614 instances of vehicles speeding in which h73 percent have Shenzhen plates. 29 of this violations happened in Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, 24 percent of the violations are caught in Jihe Expressway and 12 percent in Binhai Boulevard.
On the first half year traffic was also able to catch 14,925 drivers that were illegally occupying emergency lanes especially during the holidays. The Shahe section of Binhai Boulevard had the most violations in emergency lanes through monitoring cameras. Drivers are constantly reminded that is they are caught with three unpaid violation will result in the impoundment of their vehicles and huge fines.
