International Piano Festival to be Held in Shenzhen Next Year
Thank to cooperation between international known pianist Lang Lang and the Futian district government, an international piano festival is slated for January 4 to 10 in Shenzhen next year. The event called Lang Lang Shenzhen Futian International Art Festival includes classes, concerts, lectures and forums and at the same time residents will have free access to every activity during the festival.
According to Lng this will be the first festival that bears his name and he has invited eight well known pianists and educators from different parts of the world to come and tale part in the event. Among his guests is Gary Graffman the former director of the Curtis Institute of Music in the US and Zhu Yafen a known piano educator in China. Both Yafen and Graffman were Lang’s instructors at one point.
Lang is also Shenzhen’s international goodwill ambassador and is one of local celebrities that sign an agreement with the district government of Futian. One of the event’s highlight is a youth piano competition as the organizers have invited around 200 young pianists from different parts of the world to submit videos of themselves playing and outstanding players will be selected to be part of the competition. The three top pianists will be given the chance to perform with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra.
Lang said that he hopes that the cooperation between the Futian district government and Him will build and international platform for the promotion of piano education in China.
