Non-Government Organizations to Get Subsidies from Futian
A fund was recently set up by Futian District to help subsidize nongovernmental organization with an annual input of around 20 million yuan. The said fund will be used to subsidize non-profitable projects of NGOs in Futian especially in the fields that provide basic public services, the improvement of public good, provide residential community services and innovative projects.
The Futian district government will be accepting subsidy applications by August 25 for the first stage in which the subsidies will reach a total of 10 million yuan. All non government organizations that are registered with the civil affairs bureau can apply for these subsidies, and the second stage is set to happen in the fourth quarter of the year. One project can get as much as one million yuan in subsidy and in addition, the district government will also be awarding 10,000 to 50,000 yuan to selected and outstanding projects and individuals every year.
To oversee the release of the subsidies an independent team of 25 experts are being tasked to review these projects that are submitted by these NGOs. These teams are also in charge in conducting regular evaluation of the use of these funds and project performances. These funds are aimed to boost the development of these organizations and to guide them in paying attention to Futian as well as the well being of their residents. Furthermore these funds are expected to get social resources that will involve public services and social management.
The fund will be part of the district’s effort in improving their governance based on social issues that many of its residents are facing along with their plans of opening a headquarter for these NGOs.
