Hospital to Increase its Basic Package Fees for General Medicine Treatment
The University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital is planning to increase its package fee on its general medicine treatment on its outpatient department from 130 yuan up to 200 yuan. The new fee will start taking effect in September and will cover registration, doctor consultation, basic examinations, test and basic medication for the first seven days.
The current 130 yuan package is lower than the average cost in any outpatient treatment in three of the major hospitals in Shenzhen as the basic package of Shenzhen No. 2 People’s Hospital, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital and Shenzhen People’s Hospital was 230 yuan from 2010 to 2012.
Still the hospital operates under a huge deficit since it started even with the city municipal government investing 3.5 billion yuan in the construction and providing financial aid during the first five years of operation. The fee increase is one step the hospital is taking in their hopes to cope up with their budget deficit.
