More Vertical Gardens to be Added in the City in Three Years TimeThe city is planning to add around 300,000 square meters of vertical gardening or plants that are grown on rooftops or on walls in the next three years. based on the city environmental plan the vertical gardening is only 1 percent of the city’s total area and according to the Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park where the first vertical gardening technology expo is being held until December.

At the expo around fifteen domestic vertical gardening enterprises will be bringing in flowers, irrigation technologies and plants that are usually used in vertical gardening. The expo area will have a total area of 2,600 square meters. Vertical gardening has unparallel advantages compared to traditional gardening as it reduces the heat effect and further clean the air quality.

The director for the Shenzhen Landscape Gardening Institute stated that the city is in the forefront among other Chinese cities based on green walls and other types of vertical gardening. But still remains behind compared to other cities in developed countries wherein vertical gardening covers around 15 percent of the total city area.
