Rapid Bus Corridor to Make Commuting in Shenzhen Easier
The city will be constructing a rapid bus corridor that has left side bus lanes that will link Minzhi Boulevard and Caitian Road which cuts commuting time from Minzhi and Futian CBD down to 30 minutes. Based on plans released by the city transportation commission, 38 pairs of bus stops will be constructed on the left side of the road and passengers can transfer to Metro Lines which include Luobao, Longgang, Shekou and Huanzhong lines.
Renovations on the roads will start by next year and the first rapid bus corridor is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2015. Xincai Passage is the first road in Shenzhen to have bus manes on the left side and the transport commission is planning to extend the bus lanes at both ends from Futian Checkpoint via Caitian road and Qinghu Metro Station via Xinqu Boulevard and Minzhi Boulevard. The planned bus corridor will also link the city business and residential cluster in Futian, Bantian, Longhua and Guanlan. These bus lanes will only be used by buses and vehicles that have 10 seats or more and these routes will also by plying the Meilin Checkpoint will be increased from 68 to 100.
Xincao Passage opened only a month ago have been effective and has helped reduce the traffic congestion at Meilin Checkpoint. Reports from the transport commission showed that vehicle flow reached 2,500 vehicles per hour during the rush hour in September and vehicles at Meiguan Road was at 5,500 per hour. Congestion at Meilin Checkpoint has been reduced from 120 minutes to 60 minutes.
