A lot of Chinese and International experts are agreeing on the unique opportunities that are available in Qianhai and questions are raised that concerns on the sustainability of the opportunities since there is no university or any higher educational based institutions that is set up in the special modern service hub.
The first president and founder of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Woo Chia-wei stated that he was surprised and disappointed at the same time that there is no university that has been set up in the area as Qianhai needs a strong support for international talent. But talented people does not even ensure a success in the economic development, since having a university plays an important role in attracting and developing students and faculty that are vital in making contributions to the local community.
Furthermore in expanding existing universities, the proposal was introduced that will set up schools in business, urban planning, environmental and law in Shenzhen that will also cooperate with top international universities. The deputy director for the Qianhai Administration He Zijun stated that kindergarten, elementary and secondary schools plus branches of Chinese business schools are allowed to set up in Qianhai.
This will attract talent from the mainland and Hong Kong but will not give appeal to top international students and professionals in strategic industries that is essential to the sustainable development in Qianhai.
