City to Construct More Parking Spaces in Districts and New AreasThe city transportation commission is planning to unveil their plans to create more than 20,000 paid parking spots in Longgang and Bao’an districts along with some new areas. based on the plan 8,867 parking spots will be constructed in Bao’an, 7,298 in Longgang, 2,974 in Longhua New Area, 27 in Pingshan New Area, 359 in Dapeng New Area and 922 in Guangming New Area.

The plan to create the parking spots was announced online and is now seeking for public suggestion by October 30. The parking spots will involve 314 sections of roads that will be categorized into 57 administrative areas that will be controlled by the Shenzhen Road Traffic center. Collection of fees will start by March 2015.

The city will initiate a fee collection program for roadside parking last July after assigning more than a thousand parking places in Zhuzilin, Nanshan CBD, southern part of Futian CBD and in Tianbei. These roadside parking spaces where used in the past two months have reached 49 percent with an average parking time of one hour.

The Shenzhen Road Traffic Center already started the construction of 13,935 more parking spots in Luohu, Futian, Yantian and Nanshan Districts and the said project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year and fee collections will start at the beginning of January.
