Belgium to Start Using BYD Electric Taxis in their Public Transportation System
Belgian officials have welcomed the arrival of 34 fully electric BYD made taxis that will be placed into service in Brussels soon. Officials said that by using electricity in public transportation which includes that the taxi industry is vital to the quality of life of a European citizen. By using electric taxis will generate less pollution and noise.
During the turnover ceremony, China’s Ambassador to Belgium Liao Liqiang stated that the country have paid attention to the development of greener vehicles and the energy saving industry. The 34 electric taxis is a symbol of the leadership of the Chinese in the new vehicle technology that helps in the electrifying the public transportation in Belgium. This is also part of the fight against climate change along with other environmental issues that the European Union is facing and is now revealing measures in their plans to use renewable energy by 2020.
This has encouraged members of the transportation sector to explore the se of electricity in transportation instead of the usual traditional fuels. Using fully electric vehicles are becoming a trend especially in densely populated cities. Along with the introduction of the fully electric taxis BYD is also planning to introduce a range of electric buses in major global cities.
