Huawei Technologies to Dabble into Car Manufacturing
Huawei Technologies Co. is teaming up with domestic carmaker Dongfeng Motor Corp. in launching a project that will develop an internet enabled vehicles starting with the installation of mobile internet devices in vehicles. Based on an agreement that was signed by both companies stated that Huawei will be responsible in developing a product that will provide internet access for around five mobile phones in vehicles.
The product will be called Windlink terminal will feature a nine inch screen, voice recognition and satellite navigation services. Then in the future both companies will develop more products that can be used to interlink the vehicle with people, vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to cloud services. A plan to develop self driving smart cars is also being discussed by both companies. The first generation Windlink will be installed in the Dongfeng Fengshen AX7, a sport utility vehicles that is expected to be released in the market next month.
Huawei will be responsible for product research and development and Dongfeng will concentrate in the integration and application of these products onto its vehicles. Based on the agreement the cooperation between Huawei and Dongfng integration will other sectors along with the development of internet enabled cars is already entered the implementation stage.
