Nine More Wal-Mart Stores to be Opened before the Year Ends
Nine more Wal-Mart stores are being planned to be opened plus a distribution center before the year ends and bringing the number of new stores and distribution centers to 31 for this year thus fulfilling it promise to increase its presence in China. the world’s largest retailer by revenue said that the new stores help add around 6,000 new jobs and is on track to meet the goal of opening 110 stores, distribution center and clubs from 2014 to 2016.
The nine new stores includes a Sam’s Club in Wuhan will all be placed in Yunnan, Guangdong, Jilin, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Sichuan provinces. Recently a new store opened in Henggang last month which brought the number of new stores in Shenzhen to 26. Furthermore to add to their new store openings, the company will continue to invest in remodeling of their existing stores and will be spending 550 million yuan to remodel their 50 stores for this year.
The distribution center will be located in Taiyuan and will being the number of distribution centers to 20 this including the nine dry distribution centers and 11 fresh food distribution centers. The expansion of their delivery network will be covering all of its stores across the country which will allow Wal-Mart to purchase quality fresh suppliers at a central level, thus reducing links and enhance quality control of agricultural products.
