Planned Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor to Give Shenzhen A Direct Road Access to Western PRD
Construction of the Shenzhen Zhongshan Corridor is well on the way and will be giving Shenzhen another direct route access to the western Pearl River Delta in 2015. Based on the announcement by the Shenzhen and Zhongshan coordinated development, the 30 billion yuan project will link the two economic circles of the Pearl River Delta is said to be the driving force for the development of the area.
The corridor has 55 kilometers of area and will have eight lanes and a speed limit of 100 kilometers an hour. The corridor will connect Zhongjiang Expressway, Guangshou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway to south of the airport and Jihe Expressway in the airport’s east side. According to experts the corridor will be stimulating cooperation among industries, ecological construction and urban planning.
The corridor will also link with Qianhai area in Shenzhen and in the Cuiheng New Zone in Zhongshan and can be used as a backyard for Shenzhen industrial transfers and strategic adjustment in land prices for both commercial and industrial uses. The corridor will be going above or underneath the mouth of the Pearl River once issues such as river navigation and flood control will be done in the mouth of the Pearl River Delta.
