Traffic Management Center to Monitor Parking Spaces
As of Monday there were a total of 153,825 car owners who have registered for roadside parking and by January 1 the government will start collecting the fees at 12,000 parking spaces in Futian, Nanshan, Louhu and Yantian districts. According to the local government the number of registered owners who regifecstered for a parking space, is 5 percent the total number of vehicles in the city which is quite low.
Since the adding of 12,000 parking spaces that was placed in trial use, patrol officers were displaced and asked to report any illegal parking to the management. The management center will be monitoring every parking spot under its control and through computer screens there will be three different color of parking spaces namely yellow, green and red which will indicate the different status of a vehicle. The colors will represent vehicle that paid fees, or have been parking for five minutes and those who failed to pay the required fees.
Drivers that parked outside the designated places will have photos taken by patrol officers and tickets will be issue of illegal parking and the tickets will be sent to the monitoring center were an employee will review then send it to the local police to enforce the proper punishment.
