China to Smoothen Out Maritime Zones of Macao
The Central Government has decided to demarcate the maritime zones of Macao. Last Friday President Xi Jinping met with SAR’s Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai-on to celebrate the 15th anniversary if its return to China. The region has achieved an obvious development in all aspects since 1999 due to the implementation of one country two systems policy together with the Basic Law. The Central Government also gifted to giant pandas to Macao as gift tokens.
A local expert said that the decision gives Macao more choices as the city strives to diversify itself over its reliance on gaming as this year set a mark of the first yearly decline in gaming revenue at one of the world’s top gambling destination. Davis Fong a commercial gaming expert said that the demarcation of territorial waters is very critical to the city. Without it Macao is unable to develop water leisure activities. Then in the future Macao san link water leisure activities with tourism to Zhuhai’s offshore islands
While addressing the ceremony, President Jinping administered the swearing in of Chui as the fourth term chief executive for SAR and at the same time inspected the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Macao Garrison.
Furthermore Macao and mainland China signed a new trade liberalization deal that will provide easier conditions for Macao service providers in setting up businesses in the Guangdong Province that will take effect in March 1.
