Balloon Designed to Carry Communications Devices to Provide Wi-Fi in Remote Areas
Shenzhen based Kuang-chi showed off a series of innovative solutions that will provide people in remote areas and underdeveloped regions with access to Wi-Fi and other convenient logistics services. A Apollo Base created by the company in Longgang develop a silver helium filled balloon called Cloud that is designated to carry communications devices to a height of 4,000 meters and covers an area of 8,000 square meters about the combined sized of Shenzhen and Hong Kong and is connected to the base with a long cable.
Sold for 100 million yuan, the balloon provides all areas in Shenzhen and Hong Kong with Wi-Fi coverage and large data collection and analysis. Furthermore the company will also fly a near space aircraft called the Traveler by next year. Near space is a part of the Earth’s atmosphere from 20 to 100 kilometers and is just above commercial airliners fly and below orbiting space satellites.
Travelers can then monitor meteorological, maritime, geological and space conditions which is developed by the Shanghai Institute of Space Systems Engineering of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. the vehicle will be called the Manned Traveler can take people 24 kilometers above the ground for sightseeing. The Manned Traveler will not require any assistance from rockets, thus people young and old can ascend to near space of about an hour, do a two hour then descent for two more hours. Currently being experimented on animals and still unknown if said trips will be a reality.
“It doesn’t require the assistance of a rocket, therefore whether people are young or old, they can ascend into near-space for one hour, tour for two hours and make a descent for another two hours,” said Liu. The experiment is currently being conducted with animals and it remains unknown when such trips will become a reality.
