More Railway Project Lines to be Constructed Next Year
The planned high speed rail project that will link Shenzhen and Ganzhou in Jianxi Province will start construction next year. The Ganzhou-Shenzhen High Speed rail will be part of the high speed Nanchang-Shenzhen line that covers 880 kilometers from Nanchang north of Shenzhen in the south. Once completed in 2020, travel time between the two cities will be down to four hours.
The rail line will also connect Xiamen-Shenzhen railway and allow access to the coast Fujian cities. Work on the Nanchang-Ji’an section of the Nanchang-Ganzhou line has also started earlier this week. The Nanchang-Ji’an line is about 419 kilometers long and has 13 stations and trip between Nanchang and Ganzhou will be down to two hour from the previous five hours. Nanchang has always been a favorite destination for some Shenzheners, but taking the train usually takes a ten hour travel.
Meanwhile the high speed line from Nanchang found along the XImen-Shenzhen line takes almost 9 hour and trips from Wuhan to Guangzhou and from Hangzhou going to Changzha is about 4 hours. The Ganzhou-Shenzhen high speed line will further enhance the ties of cities found between the Pearl River Delta and northeastern Guangdong cities and will boost the region’s economy as well.
Listed as one of the major part of the province 2011 agenda, Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin called for faster construction of the line during the annual session of the provincial legislature in 2012.
