Expats Impressed on the Variety of Food Offered during the International Food Festival
The international food festival officially kicked off at Shuiwei, an urban village in Central Futian for two days and is offering a variety of food that left expats impressed. Organized by the district government foreign affairs office and the Futian Subdistict Office, food stalls were placed side by side which offered different foods ranging Japanese, Chinese or Indian food that were fried, roasted, stewed and variety of taste such as sweet to spicy.
Expats along with residents were able to enjoy and taste as much food as they wanted, and as one expat said the food was fantastic and he loved the idea of the food festival as he was able to taste food that he never tested and seen before. According to them variety is the most interesting feature of a food as some prefer cold dishes from hot and some love spicy and not. One family enjoyed eating a meal as they said the food was so fresh and tasty and everybody enjoyed the meal and they want to taste it again.
A well known food show host Zhuang Chen showed up in the festival and commented on the variety of food displayed and shared tip on how to appreciate the food with visitors. A competition is also held with Chinese and international chefs selecting the most outstanding dished and prizes range from gold, two silver and three bronze prizes.
The food festival is part of the district efforts in becoming an expat friendly community, and last September an international urban image festival was held that featured photo exhibits in Shuiwei highlighting the old and new Shenzhen with lectures and documentary screenings from professional photographers.
