Foundation Created to Further Boost City’s International Exchange and Cooperation
The Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation has been setup last Thursday with an initial government funding of 10 million yuan. The said foundation will be responsible in organizing and subsidizing exchange and cooperation level between Shenzhen and sister cities. The foundation will also organize academic research, conferences, trainings, sports and cultural events.
The foundation is also responsible for awarding organizations and individuals for their outstanding contributions to the international exchange and cooperation efforts of the city. The foundation will be managed by a council composed of government officials, professionals and entrepreneurs under the guidance of the city foreign affairs office. Wang Shi the founder of Shenzhen based real estate developer Vanke will serve as the chairman for the council.
City mayor Xu Qin stated that the establishment ceremony of the foundation is expected to gather necessary resources that will help expand the international exchange network of the city. He also hope that the foundation will be facilitating local residents involvement in international exchanges and cooperation that will boost the international profile and competitiveness of the city. Shenzhen will also look for more development opportunities through deepening international cooperation.
