Spring Festival Travel Rush Starts Now
K4076 a temporary train that carried around 1,800 passengers left Shenzhen Railway Station heading for Chengdu in Sichuan province. This trip marks the start of the 40 days travel season for the Spring Festival. Shenzhen East Railway Station and Shenzhen Railway Station will be operating 22 pairs of temporary trains going to Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei, Henan and Anhui the main provinces of which the massive population of migrant workers comes from.
In the next 40 days the two stations estimates that more than 3 million passengers this including 1.7 million pre-festival passengers to pass by the stations. Since all pre-festival tickets are sold out, a spokesperson for the transport commission advised passengers to a call in program for those who have not made travel plans to either choose air or bus services. The Shenzhen North railway Station will operate 174 pairs of pre-festival high speed trains, double the number it operated in last; year’s Spring Festival travel season. Still this number cannot meet the demand of traveling during the holidays.
Bus services will extend its services for its 61 bus routes that links to the railway station and the city’s Metro services will also be extended until midnight during the peak of the holiday travel. Transport commission will also add more M416 bus routes that will link Hourui Metro Station in Luobao line and the Shenzhen airport terminal. Ferry services will also be adjusted during Chinese New Year’s Eve and on Chinese New Year’s Day.
Shenzhen will be handling more than 1 million passengers in the next 40 days, this including the 7.2 million pre-festival travelers.
