Transportation Commission Received More than 150,000 Applications before Set Deadline
The transport commission received around 152,892 applications for the license plates by Sunday, the deadline for the 110,000 license plate numbers that are allowed to be issued in March by auction and lottery. Among the submitted applications are divided into 149,502 are individuals, 3,316 are corporate coming from 2,042 companies and the 74 remaining are from social organizations. There are two rounds of lottery and auction will be held early March and late March due to the Spring Festival.
Around 11,110 plate number which includes 8,888 that are slated for distribution using lottery and auction and 2,222 for electronic vehicles are also avail for the first round for lotteries and auctions for early March since some January plate numbers have been distributed already. Eligible applicants were announced February 23 and applications for April will be done online from February 23 and March 8.
The local government also announced a new policy with less than a day of warning that restricts car purchases in December last year which require buyers to acquire new license plates by auction or lottery before purchasing ne vehicles. Under the new ruling Shenzhen will only issue 100,000 new plates each year and 20,000 of these plates are already reserved for new energy vehicles.
From the 100,000 plates numbers, 40,000 will be done through auctions and the rest including the reserved plates for new energy vehicles will be issued through lottery. And from the 40,000 plates for regular vehicles given through lottery, 88 percent are for individuals and 12 percent to corporate applicants.
