ZTE Investing Billions for WIreless Charging Technology in Public Transportation

ZTE Investing Billions for WIreless Charging Technology in Public TransportationZTE Corp. is investing 1.5 billion yuan for its wireless charging technology that will be installing in vehicles this 2015 and around 2 billion yuan more in 2016 for upgrades and research and development. George Sun ZTE’s director for corporate strategy stated that the company already signed agreements with 20 cities in China to provide wireless charging technology in public transportation, a boost in the country’s electric car technology.

Drivers still have to adopt the use of electric vehicles even with the years of government programs that were released to help support its development. So far feedback is positive and we have already fixed the problem of electric car charging for local governments even when public transportation is one exception.

ZTE will be conducting a pre commercial trial for the wireless charging in 50 of the 100 chinese cities, furthermore ZTE is in talks with Chinese and foreign carmakers in a collaboration in installing wireless charging technology in their vehicles. Wireless charging is a great space saver, and allows government to install them on its bus terminals or car parks. But the cost for wireless equipment will be slightly higher than traditional charging facilities.

China is rolling out aggressive targets in vehicle fuel efficiency as part of their effort in cutting down heavy pollution which will be growing stricter every year until 2020.
