Almost 6 Million Tourists Came to Spend Spring Festival Holidays in Shenzhen
Around 5.85 million tourists came to Shenzhen and spent about 7.3 billion yuan during the seven day Spring festival that ended last Tuesday. The number of tourists has increased by 3.91 percent compared to last year’s Spring festival and income from tourists increased by 5.8 percent. By average each tourist has spent 1,390.07 yuan during the holidays.
Around half of the tourists were families, and self guided individuals that were encouraged to travel on their own due to the nice weather that hit the holidays and the numerous holiday resorts in China. sixteen well known resorts in the city namely Happy Valley, Window of the World and OCT East has received around 1.89 million tourists which brought a conbined income of nearly 158 million yuan. The theme park Window of the World received 250,000 visitors alone during the holidays.
Visitors and residents also found it more convenient to use the high speed train in traveling to Shenzhen rather than bringing their own vehicles and get risked in getting trap in heavy traffic. Others found it better to go out and eat since it was no fun eating big meals at home. While foreign tourists visiting the country choose to spend the holidays here to experience new cultures, several local residents opted to travel abroad.
Hong Kong was still the number one popular destination for mainland tourists during the holiday and checkpoints in Shenzhen saw more than 4.15 million cross border trips.
