Nanshan's Gross Domestic Product Ranks First Among Districts in GuangdongThe Gross Domestic Product of Nanshan grew by 9.6 percent year on year this 2014 and reached 352 billion yuan, ranking Nanshan first in total economic volume among other counties and districts found in the Guangdong Province. Nanshn’s per capita GDP was at 308,700 yuan last year thus overtaking Hong Kong and will be among the standard of Singapore and possibly ranked first among Chinese districts.

As new emerging strategic industries are coming out and account for 84 percent of more than 8,000 high tech companies in Nanshan contributed to the 70 percent of the Gross Domestic Product for 2014. With an area of only 185 square kilometers, Nanshan is homes to 109 listed companies, 89 of which are high tech companies such as Kingdeer, Mindray and Tencent.

Statistics showed even further that innovation in science is the top driving force in Nanshan economic development as the district’s investment in science and research have reached 20 billion yuan of 5.8 percent of its GDP. The district technology in terminal equipment, movable storage chips, devices and laser displays is fast reaching world class level.

The innovative capability of Nanshan established on 1990 help cultivated strategic plans upgraded policies, pushed transformation in which the government has helped in establishing the mechanism and developed and environment that is great for developing innovation.
