Public Opinion Sought for Tigher Supervision on Cosmetics Production
The country’s drug watchdog has been soliciting public opinion on a tighter supervision rules for cosmetics production. Based on a temporary rules on production and inspection that was released by the China Food and Drug Administration, that cosmetics manufacturers should establish a mechanism in ensuring that their products are traceable from warehouse to sales.
The CFDA will also be requiring manufacturers to monitor and report any reactions that are related to their products and create a product recall system. The rules have mandate that manufacturers to deal with the adverse reaction cases that are linked to their products after investigation and assessment and the recall process of the products should be well documented
For products that are subcontracted, the new rules are telling contractors and subcontractors to clarify responsibilities and sign an agreement to guarantee product quality. China’s cosmetics market saw a compound annual growth rate of 10.8 percent in the past ten years. and a report from HB Global Cosmetics Summit 2014 last January showed China annual cosmetics sales have reached 200 billion yuan grabbing a market share of 8.8 percent globally just after the United States.
