SCCSC/ISNS 4th Annual Bullying Awareness Week

This week from Monday March 30th to Friday April 3rd Shenzhen (Nanshan) Concord College of Sino Canada and the International School of Nanshan Shenzhen will be running the internationally recognized campaign Bullying Awareness Week, this year’s theme is Take a Stand, Lend a Hand!


The annual event will include:

  • Get Educated: an interactive fair that includes games, crafts and informative booths. It focuses on providing information about all aspects of bullying as well as respect and community in a fun and hands on environment.
  • Bye, Bye Bystander, Be an Upstander! Day: A day to reflect on the responsibilities of bystanders and the important role they play in ending bullying. This day includes the opening ceremonies with acts from both schools as well as a school wide version of the TV show: The Amazing Race
  • Pink Shirt Day: a campaign that started in Canada when “David Shepherd, Travis Price and their teenage friends organized a high-school protest to wear pink in sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied [for wearing a pink shirt]… [They] took a stand against bullying by distributing pink T-shirts to all the boys in their school” , the movement  named “A Sea of Pink”  took off locally, then nationally and it is now celebrated around the world as a way to stand up to bullying.
  • “This is Your Stage” Variety Show: a collection of inspirational songs, dancing, magic and videos about bullying from various clubs with the emphasis on exposing unique talents.
  • Pause Before You Post:  a student led cyberbullying awareness campaign which will have students sharing inspirational quotes as well as a selfie contest and QR code challenge.
  • School Wide Bullying Survey: all students will participate in an anonymous survey to help the school assess current bullying climate in our community.
  • Chinese Essay Competition: students were asked to write an essay about the role of bystanders.
  •  The week will also include: A teacher/student basketball tournament, bullying themed swag sale, class blackboard competition and anonymous care-o-grams.
