Wal-Mart Joins Online Shopping Growth by Launching Mobile Platform
Wal-Mart Stores recently launched an online to offline mobile platform in Shenzhen Tuesday in hopes to look into a new business growth even with challenges that were brought about by a boom in online shopping. The newly launched platform will include a mobile shopping application called Walmart to Go that will have online shopping sections in physical stores with multiple O2O e-payments schemes.
The online shopping service is available in stores in Shenzhen and will expand nationwide slowly. According to Sean Clarke the president and CEO that the mobile shopping service was to meet the change in demand of customers as Wal-Mart is planning to be a O2O company. The online shopping service is a milestone and is part of the enhancement and extension of the company’s brick to mortar business and plans for integration of physical and digital business will happen soon.
The online application currently offers around 10,000 items ranging from fresh dairy, frozen foods, grocery, health and beauty products. ordering on the app, picking the product, to home delivery or self pick up the customers will get to experience fast and efficient service. Wal-Mart said that the products sold online as of the same quality and price as the products found in the shelves of their stores.
