City Gathers Experts for International Low Carbon City Forum
Several government officials along with entrepreneurs and environmental experts from the new energy industries gathered for the third International Low Carbon City Forum which started yesterday in Longgang. During the opening ceremony the vice head of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhang Yong was impressed on the efforts that city is making towards creating the International Low Carbon City.
Shenzhen is leading among other cities in the country in being a low carbon future and at the same time is promoting green living and Yong pushes Shenzhen to continue its efforts and to become a role model city in China. Ken Livingstone a former mayor of London gave a speech during the forum and said that cities are part of a significant role in dealing with the climate change. A low carbon city is a better city and promotes a better way of living for the future generation.
During the opening ceremony Ma Xingrui Shenzhen’s Party Chief and Mayor Xu Qin did a short tour of the low carbon city in Longgang and spent time at the Cuifang building a building constructed to be self sufficient. The building used to be a factory and like most renovated building in the city it uses panels to bring in sunlight into the building.
The building shows a promising future for all low carbon construction and is encouraging the city to have more eco friendly buildings. Having a low carbon city does not mean only constructing a low carbon city, but it’s how the city recycles its resources such as categorizing wastes and finding ways to reuse water.
