Online Delivery Sales Businesses Ranked Second Nationwide
Shenzhen express delivery grew by 35 percent annually in the recent years and its delivery businesses have been ranked second nationwide based on earnings from cross border online sales which experienced rapid growth, as the industry output value accounted for around 1.18 percent of the city’s Gross Domestic Product or around 13 percent.
Cross border express delivery services is said to become the new driving force of the industry as daily shipments is close to around 1 million packages, and nearly half of the country’s cross border e-commerce goods are exported through Shenzhen based on statistics coming from the postal administration. Reports also shown that overall revenue of express delivery companies in Shenzhen was at 1.77 billion in May or 29 percent higher compared to last year. For 2014 the turnover of the e-commerce trade in Shenzhen reached 1.5 trillion yuan a 58.43 percent higher compared to last year making Shenzhen the leader in the e-commerce trading in China.
Online purchase volume is at 94 billion yuan or equivalent to 19.5 percent of total retail sales in the city as Shenzhen online sales turnover was 105 billion in 2014 after a year on year growth rate of 27 percent. Over 100,000 companies in Shenzhen have developed their e-commerce services and 5,800 have online trading platforms and 63 percent of the cross border e-commerce firms are in Shenzhen.
