Shenzhen Carmaker to Expand Business by Developing Overseas Partnership
BYD is planning to expand their business in the global market through the development of overseas partnership and by introducing their fleet of electric vehicles to Europe and the United States. The Shenzhen based car maker said that it will cooperate with ADL a European coach maker to assist in producing around 51 electric buses that will be used in the streets of London, a deal that is said to be worth 180 million yuan.
The public transport operator in London GO-Ahead also confirmed in July that the said electric buses will be used in two bus routes. Since Go-Ahead posted the order with BYD and ADL the company is expecting that all 51 buses will be used in full service by August 2016. The 12 meter long bus will be produced by ADL and the chassis and dynamics system is designed by BYD. All repairs and maintenance services will be included in the cooperation contract.
Based on a statement of ADL chief executive Colin Robertson, the cooperation will depend in the strength of both corporations meaning that there will be a major turn point for both companies. BYD has already produced buses for 150 cities worldwide and by having cooperation with local partners allows them to overcome any cultural barriers and to stay competitive as they enter a foreign market.
