Food Street in Futian to be Transformed into Community Park
A local food street in Jingtianbei Futian District will undergo reconstruction and will be turned into a community park next year. All of the shops and restaurants found around the street will be closed down by the end of the month. Several shops have already moved out while others are moving back to their hometown.
The urban management bureau in Futian stated that the food street has occupied the land that was reserved for park construction by the government in 1998 and the buildings in the area were supposed to be used as ancillary facilities for the said park. The buildings were then labeled as illegal construction due to the reason they were rented out as commercial use even with the owners had property ownership certificates. After the contracts between the management company and shops expired, the bureau decided to take back the land and to construct the park as planned.
The community park has an area of 27,000 square meters with exercise facilities, playgrounds, table tennis, tennis courts and a roofed stage. As the land is taken back by the land and resources commission and handed to the bureau consultation has been carried out.
