Visa Policy Triggers Travel Boom to the U.S.
The issuance of a then year visa policy between China and the United States triggered a travel boom as more Chinese travelers are planning their own trips to the US instead of joining group tours. Ctrip one of the lading online travel agency based in Shanghai gave out the report on US travel by Chinese tourists. 30,000 Chinese have arranged tourism and business visas using Ctrip from January until August more than three times the increase compared to last year.
According to experts from the Tourism Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences the simplified visa procedures fro China helped pushed spending overseas especially in the US. The new ten-year visa policy for China took effect in November. The number of Chinese tourists traveling to the US has increased since 2007 when the US began issuing group visas for Chinese tourists, and the number of Chinese visitors was at 397,000 and the number went up to 2.19 million last year based on a report from the US National Travel and Tourism Office.
Chinese tourists usually chose from a number of combination tours once they arrive in the US such as museum tours, adventure tours or combine both where they will spend two days in each place to learn on the life and culture. Before tourists goes on group tours in China and visit the US in two Weeks and due to the tight schedule that is needed to visit both the east and west coast, most tourists are exhausted as the tours ends.
