Apple New Innovative Production Helps in Cutting Down Carbon Emissions
In the production of the latest iPhone innovative stage might help all its suppliers especially those in China in cutting carbon emissions and improve efficiency. According to an Apple executive the biggest change is the aluminum enclosure as Apple to cut carbon emissions for its manufacturing that part of the by half. Apple was able to reduce carbon emissions of the iPhone 6s by 16 percent and the iPhone 6s Plus by 14 percent compared to last year’s models.
Apple re-engineered the way it manufacture its phone enclosures so by using lesser aluminum scrap is generated since most of its enclosures are made in China. Factories making the enclosures are using hydroelectric power during the smelting of the aluminum closures rather than fossil fuel such as coal. This is important since it will make the supply chain in China and in other places more efficient and will use lesser energy while getting out more aluminum. Apple is working hard in fulfilling its environmental and climate commitments and as of today all its facilities in the United Stated is using 100 percent renewable energy and 87 percent globally.
Apple is planning to construct a 40 megawatt solar power project in the southwestern Sichuan province the fist of its kind that the company has launched outside the United States and will add 80 million kilowatt hours of clean energy to the grid yearly. Once it’s completed the solar power plant will produce enough energy to power all of Apple’s facilities in China. As of the moment Apple has 17 corporate offices in the mainland 2 in Hong Kong, 20 retail stores in the mainland and 4 in Hong Kong.
